This week, we follow Night Demon in June 2024 as they traveled from Melbourne, Australia to Beijing for their first-ever performance in China. You will hear how this show came to be, the lengthy application / approval process for Night Demon and Cirith Ungol to perform in China, and the arduous travel arrangements that brought them there. Learn why both bands had to perform without their traditional backdrops. The band and crew offer vignettes of their initial observations upon reaching Beijing, from water fountains to toilet seats to unusual beer flavors. Lastly, Jarvis explains the personal significance of the date of the band’s arrival in China as an important anniversary of the loss of a dear friend.

The festival was organized as a collaborative project between Bloodfire (run by members of the famous Chinese black metal band Zuriaake / ่ฌๅฐธๆน), Pest Productions and Unknown Art Productions. The concert was marketed and performed as Cirith Ungol’s very first and last concert in Asia ever according to the Flaming Metal Festival page. All pre-sale tickets were completely sold out ahead of the show.

But the audience was amazing, both bands played killer gigs, and the show was an overwhelming success.
