A look back at Cirith Ungol, a criminally underrated band from Ventura, California. Emerging with a dark, doom-centric sound on their 1981 debut album, Frost & Fire, Cirith Ungol was perhaps a bit ahead of their time and had difficulty breaking in during their initial run. After disbanding in 1991, and being out of the music industry for 25 years, Cirith Ungol would reunite in 2016 and finally get some of their long overdue recognition.
