Marking its 40th anniversary this year, Metal Blade Records is proud to present its debut release, Metal Massacre Volume One, for the first time since 1984 on limited-edition vinyl!

Originally released on June 14, 1982, Metal Massacre showcased the best of Los Angeles’ unsigned acts of the time such as Metallica, Ratt and Malice, and has since become a cornerstone of Metal Blade Records. This special release will be available worldwide on April 22, 2022.

The 40th anniversary reissue track list includes all songs originally featured on the first and second pressing of the iconic compilation. This limited-edition clear vinyl is exclusive to Metallica.com and limited to 2,000 copies pressed.

Note: This is not the 40th anniversary on first album reissued from 1982, but almost all Metal Massacre bands and songs have been reissued and remastered from 1982-1984, except Metallica – Hit the Lights (first pressing, among others Lloyd Grant) and abandoned Mötley Crüe. So in short, this is still Hit the Lights (second pressing). Metal Blade says also this: Metal Massacre Volume One, for the first time since 1984 on limited-edition vinyl!

Cliff Burton was in the band Agents of Misfortune who played Battle of Bands contest in 1981. Other member were more known for Faith No More later. The band Trauma from 1981-82, released on Metal Massacre II on Metal Blade Records, and Metallica was from 1982 – 27 Sep 1986. Rest in peace.
