Greg’s lyrics on Cirith Ungol’s Frost and Fire are very introspective, and I relate to them a lot. Maybe we’ve been through similar things growing up.

Influenced by the late great Fritz Leiber‘s Fafhrd & The Grey Mouse series of tales. I might have stolen “Fire Divine” from a Be Bop Deluxe song. Bill Nelson, another big influence on my writing.

The song ‘Frost And Fire’ was inspired by Fritz Leiber’s Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser series. One of the stories was entitled “The Frost Monstreme”. I wanted to write a song about that and I thought we needed an element to combat the frost – ‘The Fire Divine’. So, the two opposites of the frost and the fire. I revisited that theme on the ‘Forever Black’ album with those two songs.
