⚔️ Band (other band and project) 🌎 Country

These bands or projects are connected with some of the same people. Some of them are listed on Metal Archives, Discogs or Setlist.fm, but not all. Many of them were active in Ventura or elsewhere in California during the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s.

One or more of them might have a link to Cirith Ungol, other project, e.g. bands on the same line-up, bands sharing the stage, bands performing at the same event, supporting acts, the competitors of the Battle of the Bands events or other happenings.

Many times you can make a guess from the band name, the lineup, or maybe just one known musician — while others remain unknown: no clear lineup, years active, or details. There’s no guarantee which of them are correct. You can help by identifying the exact band — not another one with the same name — and by sharing where they came from, who played in them, what years they were active, and any artists, photos, music, links, or other information. It’s much draft and still a puzzle we’re trying to piece together. This site there is only old days from 1990’s and before.

Try searching some of the Homages, bands or names on this page — many of the musicians also played in each other’s bands.

Please add or correct any of them.

    signed to Rhino Records in 1988 til 1990. They made MTV video for this and The Accused movie (1988).

    I joined another group called Only Child. Only Child took off quickly – in 1988 we recorded a record (titled Only Child) and were signed to Rhino Records. We made a video (for very cheap!), and it was quickly added to MTV. This was super exciting! Several songs got put onto TV shows and movies, including “The Accused” with Jodie Foster – she won the Ocsar for best actress inn that movie. So, things finally seemed like they were going to happen! However, the record didn’t sell, and slowly we became frustrated. I’ll always be very proud of that record (even though it didn’t make any $$). You can get Only Child on iTunes. So, in 1990 I quit Only Child – Tom Rudenko

    Stryper

    They have King of the Dead LP, Stryper – The Yellow and Black Attack EP and 45 Grave – School’s Out 12″. All three was on Enigma Records. The LP was with Ron Goudie. Garven sayd: “We played with Stryper — we opened up for them and we headlined [ed: gig was 07 Jan 1982 on Stormer (pre Stryper) and 09 Nov 1984, is there more?] some shows at the Country Club, and so for a lot of those shows because they were in L.A., a lot more people would come. I think Ventura is just not a hotbed of the hard rock music scene.“. Search for a list if you want to check more of details.

    Producer on Stryper was Ron Goudie.

    But he was wounded for our transgressions,
    he was bruised for our iniquities:
    the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
    and with his stripes we are healed.

    Stryper – Isaiah 53:5 (King James version)

    Original hebrew language (with consonant and vowel): יְשַׁעְיָהוּ: וְהוּא֙ מְחֹלָ֣ל מִפְּשָׁעֵ֔נוּ מְדֻכָּ֖א מֵעֲוֺנֹתֵ֑ינוּ מוּסַ֤ר שְׁלוֹמֵ֙נוּ֙ עָלָ֔יו וּבַחֲבֻרָת֖וֹ נִרְפָּא־לָֽנוּ׃
